Professional
I am a chartered Educational Psychologist, registered with the British Psychological Society and I am also registered with HCPC in the UK.
I completed my Doctoral Training in Educational, Child and Adolescent Psychology at the Institute of Education (now UCL) in London in 2009. I have since then worked in a range of educational settings in two different London boroughs, including children’s centres, early years settings, mainstream primary and secondary schools, special schools and units. I haved used consultation (joint problem solving), assessment, intervention, training and research activities to promote positive outcomes for young people. This is across a number of areas, including learning, behaviour, social-emotional and wellbeing.
Before that I completed my BSc in Psychology at Cardiff University. I then went on to do my MSc in Anthropology of Learning and Cognition at the London School of Economics. After that I spent a year working in schools, supporting children with their learning.
Amongst many other areas, I am trained in Solution Focussed Approaches, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, SCERTS and Video Interaction Guidance.
Personal
I spent my childhood in the Netherlands and Belgium. I moved to the UK to study. I have three young children, two boys and a girl. I recently relocated with my family from London to Munich.
I am fluent in English and Dutch and I am learning German.
My Values
I am dedicated to supporting children and young people to feel good and reach their potential. I strongly believe in focusing on children’s strengths, using solution focussed strategies and using positive psychology to promote individuals’ well-being, learning and skills. Any assessment that is done, should be used to support learning.
In my individual work, I want children and young people to feel relaxed and enjoy my sessions, and leave with a feeling that they have done well and achieved something.
